| Gokyo Trekking |
As the trail to Everest Base Camp become more and more crowded, a need arose to find an alternative route that would be equally spectacular in terms of the mountain experience and views of the world’s tallest peak. The route up to Dudh Pokhari and Gokyo Ri surpasses the traditional route.
As we follow the Dudh Koshi River toward its source, we pass majestic Cho-Oyu (8201m), the sixth highest peak in the world. Leaving the inhabited world behind, we trek through seasonal yak herding pastures until, at last, we reach out high camp on the shores of Dudh Pokhari (Milk Lake). From here we day hike to Gokyo Ri (5340m), the highest point on the trek, then return to our camp in time for dinner. The view of Everest from Gokyo Ri is widely agreed to be better than that from Kalapatthar, with more of the mountain visible.
