India : Incredible place of art, yogis, beach and " a country in race for its economy prosperity ! "

India is a world in itself. This is the land of mysticism, superstition & myths, snake charmers, yogis and Maharaja's. India’s variety has richness, where light, color, noises, smells, flavors are all so vivid and intense.
Delhi :
New Delhi, capital of India. Delhi is the second-largest metropolis in India after Mumbai with a population of 13 million. Located in northern India on the banks of the River Yamuna, Delhi has the political status of a federally-administered union territory known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi. A Constitutional amendment in 1991 gave Delhi its own legislative assembly with limited powers. The National Capital Territory of Delhi comprises nine districts, 27 tehsils, three statutory towns viz. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Committee (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB), 59 census towns and 165 villages.Having been the capital of several empires in ancient India, Delhi was a major city in the old trade routes from northwest India to the Gangetic Plains. Many ancient monuments, archaeological sites and remains of national importance have been erected in its history. The Mughals built a section of the city (now known as Old City or Old Delhi) that served as the capital of Mughal Empire for a long period. During the British Raj, New Delhi was built as an administrative quarter of the city. New Delhi was declared the capital of India after India gained independence from British rule in 1947. As the seat of the Government of India, New Delhi houses important offices of the federal government, including the Parliament of India. Delhi has grown up to be a cosmopolitan city owing to the immigration of people from across the country.

New Delhi also cover many interesting attractions like the Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Parliament House, Lotus Temple, Birla Mandir etc. As you travel through the wide roads and flyovers of Delhi, you'll come across Mughal monuments, forts and tombs in the heart of the city. Known for its historic buildings such as the President's mansion, Rashtrapati Bhawan, the Parliament House and the landmark India Gate, Delhi is changing rapidly with a modern metro railway service and curving flyovers connecting different parts of this rapidly expanding city. You can undertake quite a few excursions from New Delhi to places far and near from here. There are a number of places to visit from New Delhi. It is pretty convenient to make New Delhi base. Out of the many tourist destinations, one of the major tourist attractions near New Delhi is Agra (to The Taj Mahal). Another good option is to visit Mathura, lying 145 kms south-east to Delhi. Often called the Brajabhoomi, every inch of this place stands devoted to Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu's re-incarnation. Vrindavan, about 15 kms away from Mathura, is another key site of pilgrimage. So, from Mathura, you can even drop in at Vrindavan.

India

The Taj Mahal [listed among world seven heritage site] :

The Taj Mahal in Agra is undoubtedly the epitome of India tourism. India travel is incomplete without experiencing the Taj Mahal. The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned it as a mausoleum for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Construction began in 1632 and was completed in approximately 1648. The Taj Mahal was designed by Ustad Ahmad Lahauri, who was finest designer at that time.

The Taj Mahal (sometimes called "the Taj") is generally considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements of Persian, Turkish, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. While the white domed marble mausoleum is the most familiar part of the monument, the Taj Mahal is actually an integrated complex of structures. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 when it was described as a "universally admired masterpiece of the world's heritage.
In 1631 Shah Jahan, emperor during the Mughal's period of greatest prosperity, was griefstricken when his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their daughter Gauhara Begum, their fourteenth child. Contemporary court chronicles concerning Shah Jahan's grief form the basis of the love story traditionally held as the inspiration for the Taj Mahal. Construction of the Taj Mahal was begun soon after Mumtaz's death. This great monument was completed in 1653 AD. Agra Fort, the imposing structure on the banks of the river Yamuna is replete with priceless examples of craftsmanship in the Mughal period, including the beautiful pearl Mosque, it was designed and built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 AD. Construction began in 1631, and over 20,000 workmen and master craftsmen worked laboriously for 22 years to give shape to the emperor's passionate dream! The material was brought in from all over India and central Asia and it took a fleet of 1,000 elephants to transport it to the site. The complex was finally completed in 1653 at a cost of 32 Million Rupees on the banks of river Yamuna in Agra, the capital of the Mughal monarchs. But the beauty of Taj Mahal is also tainted by the glory fact that the hands of some of the master craftsmen were amputated... to ensure that the perfection of the Taj could never be repeated ever again.Visiting Agra in 1663, the French traveller François Bernier wrote the following:

"I shall finish this letter with a description of the two wonderful mausoleums which constitute the chief superiority of Agra over Delhi. One was erected by Jehan-guyre [sic] in honor of his father Ekbar; and Chah-Jehan raised the other to the memory of his wife Tage Mehale, that extraordinary and celebrated beauty, of whom her husband was so enamoured it is said that he was constant to her during life, and at her death was so affected as nearly to follow her to the grave."
